McDonalds compliments

I can’t believe I haven’t posted this yet. The other week, Scott had a phone interview (more on that later) and the kids and I needed to be out of the house. Since it was early morning, I took them out to McDonalds for breakfast. As we entered the play area, we found a group of older people having their morning coffee and reading the paper. Why they were in the kids play area, I’ll never know. School was out that day and it was much busier than I anticipated. Kids were running and screaming and it was just nuts. As an older lady got up to leave, she came to me first and said, “Your children are easily the best behaved here. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up.” Little does she know what she did for this mom. I was so proud of my boys for being so awesome, but proud of me too. I hope I can be that shining light for young-ish moms as I get older. It’s always nice to be patted on the shoulder by a complete stranger. 

Easter 2019

We had a wonderful Easter thing year. My favorite part was following the Holy Week. It was so special to learn about the individual days leading up to the resurrection. Watching my boys grasp the strong sense of love of Jesus Christ was amazing. Not only did they see the love he has for other, their love for him increased. They were so impressed with the devotion that Jesus Christ had to the Fathers plan. 

Sunday was great. Church was wonderful and we spent the afternoon at my parents house celebrating with them. They planned an egg hunt and got the kids goodie baskets. We ate, roasted s’more and the kids ran and played. It’s always great to be in my parents home. 

Cache fell after the silly picture and was super sensitive about getting an individual picture, so he hid under the bed. It didn’t stop me! 

Cache finally agreed to an individual picture like his brothers. 

I love our Savior. The past year my relationship with him has grown exponentially. I trust him, I turn to him, I believe in him, and I strive to be like him. He is my strength.  I’m amazed at the sacrifice he gave for mankind. And not that he just gave it, but was willing. And even more than willing, he was happy to do it. I’m so grateful for the resurrection that allows us life after death. There really is nothing as significant as overcoming the grave. When everything boils down, that is all that matters. Trials, pain, anger, worldly wealth, etc. will all melt away. And we will be left with our knowledge, our family and God the Father and his Son. What a tender mercy! 

Younger not Smaller

This is the night we realized Beckett still had 10 lbs on Tayden and about 4 inches more of arm muscle. Beckett is thrilled to be bigger than his big brother, while Tayden loves be lanky. He’s convinced that’s what makes him so fast and nimble. He’s probably right, but either way that kid needs some protein!! I love how this picture speaks louder than any words!

Luna Lou

This shaggy beast got a much needed haircut. She was so hot and always sleeping on the tile or in the shower. She was even mistaken for a Great Pyrenees before her haircut. Considering how matted and uncomfortable she was, we opted to shave her. 

She’s a whole new dog. And feels so good. Tanner got haircut too, but it stressed him out so much he feel asleep in my arms on the way home and promptly went under the bed to finish his nap as soon as we got home. I’ll have to get a picture of him up soon. I sure love my pups!

Jodie took the best spring portraits of my kiddos. I mean, she really knocked it out of the park this year. This is exactly why I don't buy school pictures!!

Power Outage

Yesterday, at 8:02 the power went out. Two minutes after school started. The power company determined it would be about a two and half hour fix, so the district canceled school for the day and started making arrangements to get the students back home. Roughly 15 minutes later, the power came back on. But because the process had started, school remained canceled and we had a free day at home... with power. 

The kids did their chores and enjoyed relaxing and playing with friends the rest of the day. And because this never happens, I took the boys to lunch. 

It was the best surprise day off! 

FOUR

My sweet baby, although not so babyish, turned four! I can not believe Kyle has been with us for four years. But at the same time, it feels like he’s been here forever. 

We had the best time celebrating him. He requested we sing Happy Birthday to him first thing in the morning and he loved every minute of it. The whole day he referred to himself as the birthday boy and kept saying, “This is the best day ever!!” It was so awesome experiencing the magic of the day with him. 

I was a bit nervous to give him his cake. He was very specific about wanting a monster truck cake like last year, but I strayed away when I found a clearance cake at Walmart. It turned out super cute and he loved it. 

We enjoyed a nice family party for him. He was thrilled with his gifts and especially loved his new bike. We didn’t wrap it up, but Tayden was more than happy to help with the surprise. 

Kyle is the sweetest boy. He tells everyone multiple times a day how much he loves us and showers us with hugs. He loves to tag along with his brothers and play with friends. Kyle definitely follows in Caches footsteps and talks non stop. He’s just the most fun. 

He also thinks he runs the show. He’s quite the bossy pants. He likes things to go his way, although he is gettng better at not throwing a major fit every time things stray. 

Ky is also super silly. I love how he sticks his finger in his ear, instead of on his temple, and says, “Hmmmm, let me think.” For the longest time he referred to himself as the “mystery farter”, claiming he had nothing to do with the stench. He dresses himself every day and wants to look cool. 

I love this son of mine. I’ve said it a million times, but I felt this boy calling to me from heaven and he’s better than I could have ever imagined.
