Snake Expert

This morning we spent some time with our good friends, the Williams. Around this time of year, the snake hibernaculum comes to life and one particular tree is littered with snakes. My little Cache loves snakes and was excited to play with a couple this morning. The first time he tried to catch on, he was caught off guard by the speed and slithering. After a couple of attempts, he got the hang of it and soon proclaimed himself a "Snake expert".

As soon as the big kids got home from school, the little boys told them all about their snake adventures. They didn't want to miss out on any fun, so we promptly headed back over and let them catch a snake. One particular snake was getting pretty grouchy from being manhandled and actually bit Cache. He was fine and thought it was awesome he survived a snake bite (don't worry, we talk about rattlers all the time and how its a deadly bite). But, Tayden wasn't having it, so by the time I got to take his picture, he was keeping a safe distance.

I even held one for a minute. Should have got a picture of that. The things we do for our kids....

Oh, and we can’t forget when Beckett tried to sneak one home in the trunk with all the bikes and baseballs. Tayden had to fish it out. Love these boys!

Sunny Weekend

This weekend was exceptional! The sun decided to come out and play and we came out with it. The minute the kids got home from school, no exaggeration, they were outside playing and digging in the dirt. We grabbed a pizza and picnicked in the backyard. Scott and Tayden played football, we threw around the baseball and hit a few balls. It went on all weekend. Every night we had four filthy boys. We're talking head to toe in dirt. It was in their ears, nose, hair. Every little inch was covered. I haven't seen these boys like dirty since last summer. It was awesome! We even did sparklers!! It was one of those weekends that I just looked around and felt so blessed for my life.

Check Ups

This week three of the four boys had their yearly well check. Tayden, Beckett and Kyle all went the rounds and turned out healthy as can be. Cache got in on the fun too, as the doctor checked him out so he wouldn’t feel left out.

I love this last picture. The boys thought they heard the doctor coming in, so they jumped down mid picture. They were so embarrassed of the thought of getting caught taking pictures with their mom.

Also, we were in the exact same room as last year. So, obviously, I had to compare pictures!

My, how’ve they grown!!

Stats for the three boys...
  • Tayden is 55.25 inches tall and weights 64.6 pounds. Still tall and skinny.
  • Beckett is 51.75 inches tall and weights 66.8 pounds. 97% for both height and weight.
  • Kyle is 37.75 inches tall and weights 33.4 pounds. He has shot up and is growing great.
Everyone is healthy and happy and that makes for a happy mama!!

Picture perfect

I’m working on a little DIY project and Jodie took some pictures to help me with it. She hit it out of the park.

Man, those are some good looking boys!

Favorite Finale

Yesterday we had the opportunity to celebrate my favorite finale, Kyle. I can’t believe he has been with us for three years! I remember when I felt his overwhelming spirit from heaven begging me to bring him down. He was meant for our family and I thank my lucky stars he made it down. Ky is the perfect caboose to our crazy boy train. He is a little sour with a whole lot of sweet and is as independent as they come. I’d like to say he doesn’t rule the roost, but there are days he does. I love this redheaded firecracker.

He had been talking about a monster truck cake for weeks and I was pleased it was something I could do easily. The night before his birthday he kept coming out of his room asking if I was making his cake yet and asking if he could help. Time after time we ushered him back to his room explaining he could see his cake in the morning. Finally, at 10:30 he fell asleep.  Needless to say, he was pumped about his cake.

The only problem was, he thought it was a real monster truck race track. He kept driving the trucks on it, smashing it down. He really did a number to it while I showered and he completely redecorated it.

It ended up being a pile of completely smashed cake. But, in the end we put the candles on it and he couldn’t have been happier.

Ky was as patient as you could expect for a three year old waiting to open presents. He kept asking when dad would be home so we could open his gifts. Funny side note. We hid his gift so high in the garage that couldn’t get down without Scott. When Scott got home, Ky about came unglued and was dying to open presents. I couldn’t make him a wait a minute longer to actually wrap it with wrapping paper so I rolled it up in his blanket. He didn’t seem to mind, but I sure felt like a loser mom.

Kyle is a light in my life that I treasure beyond measure. He is hard, and he is bossy and he whines like no other. But, he is sweet, smart, funny, loving and obedient. Ky keeps us on our toes and has us wrapped around his little finger. He is our baby, forever.

At three years old, Kyle...
  • Sleeps through the night
  • Is potty trained and has been for almost a year
  • Know how to count to 15
  • Can pretty much spell his name
  • Loves to run with the big boys
  • Has little patience for anything
  • Knows what he wants
  • Loves all meat
  • Rides his trike like a pro
  • Loves anything with wheels
And a funny story. The other day as we were drawing pictures, he said, “draw me crying and you yelling at me!”. I don’t know where that came from or what he even said it. I replied that I wanted to draw him happy, so he got the cheesiest grin on his face and laid his head face first on the paper and said, “okay, trace me!!” We laughed and laughed.

He is just the best and we adore him!!
