Fathers Day Catch Up
This summer is kicking my butt. For real. Its keeping me so busy. And I love every single minute of it. I love that my kids are old enough to sleep in and keep each other busy so I can sleep in too. I love that we are together and they are each others main play pals. I love that the evenings are so perfect and we don't have to rush to bed and can actually enjoy time with Scott when he gets home. Summer is treating us right, thats for sure.
The past week has been great. Scott sold his five seater truck, finally! And got one with seats for everyone. We took it out this weekend and it was really fun. Ky especially loves Dads truck. Speaking of Kyle, he is very opinionated. Painfully opinionated. As we were getting ready to head out the door, he was refusing to take off his pajamas. Scott and I wrangled him down and got him dressed for the day. He was furious and ran to his room in a full on pout. Then, he magically appeared with re-dressed. He sure was proud of himself. And of course, everyone else had to get in on the photo action.
We spent one evening down at the field watching the Chuckars play. I love taking advantage of the cool things our little town has to offer.
And of course, Fathers Day. I love the father of our family. He works harder than anyone I know and there is no way we would be where we are without him. Fathers are essential to the family and I am grateful for Scott.
Its been a great week. And the fact that I haven't had time for blogging...or much of anything else...proves it!

Baseball Life
Baseball is well under way. As I mentioned before, we have three games two days a week for a total of six weekly games. We average about three and a half hours at the field at a time and sometimes longer depending on the schedule. I feel like I am learning the art of baseball field living.
First, the van is my friend!! I back up, roll the windows down, lift the tail gate and put the seats down. I have instant shade for me and a containment area for my kids, who happen to love playing in the back of the car. Our van has window shades, so I put those up and eliminate the sun coming it, but still allow the breeze to flow. It is a sweet set up.
Second, a big lunch bag with a walmart bag for garbage. My lunch bag carries lots of food and ice water. I learned that snacks do not need to be packed at home. For example, its just as easy to throw in some apples and take the peeler and peel the fruit at the park. My kids love pretzels and peanut butter-- so I take bag of pretzels, a jar of peanut butter and some plates. Boom, instant snack without having to take the time to pack it at home and there is so much less waste. Its a good system.
Third, a reward. Depending on how the games are set up...we use a reward for the last game. This week was a movie in the car. I brought along our portable DVD player and let the kids watch a show for the last game. Funny thing is, they didn't watch much of it. But the idea of it was fun and they liked having something out of the normal to look forward too.
And last, but not least, friends. Luckily, we have family friends on all the teams and siblings for the spectators to play with. We do lots of friends. And its nice for me to have friends there too. Someone to help watch kids, someone to cheer with and someone to talk to.
Speaking of talking to friends. As I was talking to friend at the last game, I casually mentioned that Cache had hurt his foot about a week ago. Her husband is a podiatrist, so she naturally starting asking detailed questions. As I told her where the pain was, she called her husband and he insisted we come in for an x-ray. So, after four hours on the field, we packed up and headed to his office. He took an x-ray of his foot and came back and said everything looked normal, but wanted to feel around anyway. As I was explaining where the pain was, he decided to take a closer look at the x-ray. Sure enough, there was a healing broken bone. Cache had started healing so quickly, the doctor had over looked it the first time. He broke the middle metatarsal bone. Since it is in the middle of his foot and his other bones and muscles were supporting it, it healed really straight without being set. We are so lucky we didn't have to re-break it and set it again.
The week prior to taking him in, he was limping quite badly. He wouldn't put weight on it and at times refused to walk. He was waking up randomly and crying...now I know from pain. And was acting just a little off. I wanted to take him in, but Scott insisted he was fine. In fact, it caused some grief between Scott and I. After about a week, his limp lessened and he was back to playing almost full force. So I backed down and swallowed my mothers intuition and figured I must have been over reacting. When I saw the x-rays I immediately felt awful for not sticking to my gut and gave Scott a great big "I told you so" about 15 times. He promised to start listening better when it came to the welfare of our kids. It feels so good to be right, but even better to know what was going on with my boy.
Baseball is a busy time of the year, but so much fun. And now that I have a system that is working, its even better!

Idaho Falls Temple Rededication
Scott and I had the immense pleasure of taking Tayden to the Idaho Falls Temple rededication. It was wonderful sharing our love of the temple with our oldest son and showing him why it is so important to us. He was a little bored during the talks, but sat like a champ and really enjoyed doing the Hosanna Shout.
The rededication was great for me. I have craved the temple the past few months. Having it gone really makes you see the value of having it open. Now, as my children are getting older and the temple is closer than ever, Scott and I have made a commit to get to the temple once a month. We know it will bless us and will invite the spirit into our lives where we need it most.

School Year End
Another school year has come and gone. I can not believe how fast this past year went. I often felt that school was just starting, even in April. Tayden and Beckett both did great and have come so far. They got straight 3's (A's) and scored a 3 on the IRI. They learned so much and I love how they are applying it to their lives.
Taydens class did a Readers Theater performance. He has been practicing for weeks and talked about it non stop. He did great and it was so fun to watch him act out his part with such excitement and skill. He even got to fill in another part for a friend that was sick and did great! I am really proud of him. Mrs. Cousin, his teacher, was incredible. She really taught in a way that resonated with him and he grew by leaps and bounds. He is reading efficiently, really understands math and enjoys science and learning about the world that surrounds him.
We are so ready for summer! Even Luna started it off with a bang! Running through the sprinklers then digging in the dirt...not a good combination, but made for one happy dog. She was so dirty I literally had to get in the shower with her to clean her up. Ugh, good thing I love her!

Beckett did great this year too. After a rough start with the broken arm, he ended on a very high note. He is doing remarkably well and is constantly blowing me away with his logic and brains. He understands math concepts that he hasn't been taught, just because it makes sense to him. Its incredible. He had the same teacher Tayden had in kindergarten, Ms. Kirby, and adored her. She is wonderful and I love being able to send my kids to school knowing they are safe and loved and can turn to her if they have a problem.
