Sick Kyle

Last week, Kyle was sick with a stomach bug. Since I started school again, it seems my attention is always pulled in two different directions. I tend to do homework while I'm watching sports, or studying as I watch a show with Scott. It's been hard. However, my semester ended and I decided to take a break until fall. When Kyle was sick, he wanted to cuddle and watch Harry Potter. I got to just sit with him and do nothing else. I gave him my undivided attention and it was magical. I just soaked it up and enjoyed the moment. I'm grateful for my family's support as I have gone back to school. I have loved going back. But that day, I was grateful just to be a mom, cuddle my sick kid, and do absolutely nothing else.

Easter

Easter was fantastic this year. During General Conference the week before, the General Authorities emphasized the holiday's importance and said it should be celebrated as much as, if not more, than Christmas. We took this to heart and spent the week learning about the Holy Week. It was so great. We gathered every night and learned about why that day was significant. My favorite part of the week was Kyle asking how Jesus really died. We tried to explain again and again that he died on the cross. He was frustrated as he tried to explain his question, and finally said, "When did Jesus die for the last time?" I finally understood. Kyle thought that Jesus died after his resurrection. He was shocked when we told him that He still lives. And that is the greatest blessing of Easter. All of a sudden, everything made sense to him. And we got to testify of our Savior. The week's lessons all came together and we celebrated the true meaning of Easter. It was beautiful.

We spent Saturday with the Packards and Sunday with the Mennears. It was great to spend time with family. I love them so much. It made me even more grateful for my knowledge of Jesus Christ, his life, and his death.

I hope in years to come, we can continue to celebrate Easter in-depth and look closely at what it means to us and how it applies to our lives. I am grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and his life for me. I am grateful that the sorrow of our Saturdays is followed by the joy of Sunday. He lives!

Last Baptism

Kyle got baptized yesterday. It was a great day. He has been looking forward to his baptism day for weeks and was thrilled when it finally came. He was baptized with his sweet friend, Lyla. It was a beautiful service and I am so proud of him for choosing to participate in the sacred ordinance. He had an incredible amount of family support and it brings tears to my eyes to think about how much my family is loved.

It's hard not to focus on the end of this era and stage of life. It's been a joy watching my boys grow in faith and love as they learn about the Savior, Jesus Christ. What a blessing this gospel has been for our family.

Belt Promotion

Cache had another belt promotion. This time, he chose Beckett to be his buddy. Beckett was super willing to help but looked less than enthusiastic. I had to keep telling him to smile and try to look like he was enjoying himself.

Cache spends a lot of time at his brother's games and events, so it's a nice change of pace when they can get out and support him. At the belt promotion, his instructor asked me what is the biggest change we've seen in Cache since he started Taekwondo. Aside from his confidence, he's learned to fail without quitting. Instead of getting upset or giving up, he tries until he succeeds. It has been incredible to watch. I am so proud of him.

Kyle turns Eight

Kyle, my sweet baby caboose, turned eight last week! It's hard to believe that my youngest is eight years old. It has gone so fast. He had a great day. His birthday fell on conference Sunday this year, so we stayed home to celebrate. He demanded a scavenger hunt and Tayden pulled through for him. He made a little scavenger hunt with his gift at the end. Kyle has been begging for Heelies, shoes with wheels in the heels. His dream came true and he got his first pair. He was so happy.

Kyle is such a great kid. He is the ultimate sour patch kid. Sweet and loving one minute, and spicey the next. He stands up to his brothers and isn't afraid to speak his mind. When he feels something, happy or sad, he feels it passionately. He gives me countless hugs daily and tells me how much he loves me. He is such a joy in our family.

Nightmare

Cache had a nightmare the other night and had a hard time falling back asleep. I was in my room watching a show, so he came to lay with me for a minute and fell asleep. I loved cuddling with him and feeling his even breath against my chest. He is growing so fast, so I treasure these moments. After I got him back in his bed, he was a little nervous still, so I put Luna on nightmare duty, She slept on his bed the rest of the night. She's a good dog.

Baptism Pictures

Scheduling baptism pictures for Kyle was challenging this year.  Our usual photographer, Jodie, has been busy and the weather has been terrible. One day, the weather was nice and we had a free afternoon. So, Ky and I went out with my phone and snapped a few shots for his baptism announcements.

Car Rides

Luna taught Sully to love car rides.
Now we'll have to work on teaching him to sit on his own seat.
