Caramel Apples
My mom loves my kids. Probably only second to me. She spent the evening making caramel apples with them and had as much fun as they did. I'm so grateful for the safe haven that her home is to my children. They love being there and the oldest even chose apple making with Grandma over a haunted corn maze with friends. That's just how great my mom is!
Pumpkin Patch
Picking pumpkins was a little different than usual this year. We went to a new patch, the Walmart pumpkin patch. And just with the redheads. Our schedule has been crazy, so this was as good as it would get. It was actually a really fun evening with my two reds and we ended up with pumpkins, so it was a win all around!
Penny for Your Thoughts
Last week, Kyle accidentally swallowed a penny. I made it almost 14 years of motherhood without any child eating a foreign object! I don't think anyone was more happy than me when it finally passed!
Fall Carnival
Another school year, another fall carnival. The kids love this fundraiser. It's a crazy night of ridiculously priced carnival games, but it's for a good cause and helps this school, so we always go. All the kids love it, even the older kids. This year, Tayden and his friends volunteered their time to help run the games, but they took a minute to play a few too. I love these boys! It was a fun night!

Deer Hunt #2
The second deer hunt was as unsuccessful as the first, however this time, they had a good time! Everyone was in better spirits and had lots of fun.
My favorite part was when they came home. Not because they were home, but because of the nerf war that came after. Even though Scott was tired, he played with the little boys and before long, all the boys were in on the fun. I looked around at the house and laughed because I was so happy to see the mess. The house had been clean all weekend, but now everyone was home, the house was a mess and loud and everything felt right in the world.
Caches Birthday Party
We had a birthday party for Cache at his Taekwondo Academy. It was awesome and the kids had lots of fun!
Mom and Littles
Scott took the big boys hunting last weekend and I stayed home with the little boys. I used to think that hunting would be a break for me and I would get to spend the weekends by myself getting pedicures and watching shows. However, I didn't take into account one thing...the boys will grow up, and soon, I'll have plenty of time to myself, regardless of hunting season or not. The days of hanging out with mom are fleeting and wasting away faster than I would like. So, as the big kids went hunting, I took the little kids for a fun night own.
I surprised them with the McDonalds drive-through and grabbed a cheeseburger. Then we headed to the theater for a movie and ended the night with the haunted car wash. It was such a fun night! I'm going to soak up these nights for as long as I can. I am so grateful for the wisdom that comes with being an older mom that told me to take the night and spend it with my boys.
Cache Turns 10
Cache turned 10 last week. It's weird and not weird all at once. I feel like he has been 10 for such a long time. He is so inquisiitive and constantly asks questions. He is wise beyond his years, but so young at the same time.
For his birthday, he asked for an ice cream cake. I haven't made one before and it was a bit of a learning process. I joked that it was my first and my last, but the kids loved it and already are requesting them for their birthdays. I guess I better sharpen my skills.
The best part of the night was when Beckett gave Cache an old knife for his birthday. One, because those two don't always get along, so it was the sweetest gesture from Beckett. Two, because Cache was so excited!
Being nine was hard for Cache. It brought a lot of happiness, but a lot of frustration too. He has had a hard time finding his place at school and in his band of brothers. He wants to be old enough to hang out with his big brothers, but isn't quite there yet, so he turns to annoying little brother tactics. His friend group changed and he felt left behind. He felt really big feelings and didn't know what to do with them and often acted out by not listening or being mean.
However, he is doing so much better. He is coming into himself and settling into his personality. He is listening better, looking at life with a more positive attitude, and found a great group of friends. I am so proud of how far he has come. It took a lot of conscious effort, but he has done amazingly well. Which makes my momma heart happy. We love this boy and are so grateful for his sweet presence in our life.
