Tan Tan

Meet Tanner

Sweetest dog you ever did see. We've had Tan for about 5 years now. As much as we complain about the 'dumb dog' we really do love him. He's getting older and as sad as it is...he's not going to be here forever. So, I would like to write a little bit about him. Especially for my boys. Since I print individual copies for them of the blog. I want them to remember their first childhood pet.

Tanner is a happy little dog. This dog seriously smiles when he is happy and tries to talk to us on a daily basis. He is getting a bit cranky in his old age, but for the most part is very tolerant of the shenanigans the kids put him through.

He is a yapper. He was always quiet while we lived in apartments, but once we got into a house, I let it get out of control. It made me feel safe because nobody could get near the house without me knowing. I still stand my ground that I don't mind the barking, even more so since Scott works so much. It gets a tad old when the kids are napping, but I don't know that'd I change it.

Tan Man is smart. He catches on to things really quickly. He took a day to potty train. He knows when we're talking about him. If he's done something naughty, he tries to be super lovable until your not mad. He knows how to work the system.

Tanner loves to play. Tayden is at a great age to play with him. They chase each other, play ball and wrestle around. Beckett on the other hand...that's still a different story.

We get so many compliments on him. We've had people ask if he's part fox or a little husky. They always think he's a puppy. He gets more comments when we are out going for a walk then my adorable kids. Okay, not true..but pretty close.

He is my dog. Scott likes him too, but he's mine. He sits with me, follows me around, it ultra protective of me. The whole works. I didn't mean for that to happen, but some where along the lines it did.

If we let his hair grow out to long he gets naughty and sulky. Once we get it cut--he acts like a whole new dog. We even had our trainer comment on the same thing.

He broke his leg the second Christmas we had him. Jumped out of my arms and landed in a shoe. Most expensive vet bill I have ever seen.

It's incredible the amount of unconditional love a dog can give you. He is extremely loyal and loving to our family. I tell Scott all the time I will never get another dog, but in all honestly- we'll probably be dog family for the rest of our lives.

Tanner is good boy.
We love him.
Thanks Tan Tan for being the best little dog ever.

Working at the Car Wash

My boys washed my car tonight.
Yes, I'm a lucky girl.

Baby B and Tanner supervised.

Oh, and Tayden washed Becketts toes too.

Nothing like washing the car on a hot summer night.
Perfection.

Hard Stuff

This is probably the hardest post I have had to write....ever. I'm crying my eyes out as we speak, but somethings have to be done, no matter how much they break your heart. I am looking for a new home for my wonderful little Pomeranian, Tanner. You see, we sold our house and have to be out on the 15 of May. Where we go next is unknown. Scott had a promising interview in Las Vegas and we are hoping for an offer in the next few weeks. If we do in fact go to Vegas, we can't take our pup. With Scotts hours + apartment living, a dog would be next to impossible. What if he has to go potty during the day? I won't be able to let him out in the back yard. I can't pack up the kids every time he needs to go out and certainly can't leave them in the apartment while I take the dog out. And thats just during the day...the night would be a nightmare. What if we don't go to Vegas you ask? We will be in an apartment elsewhere. Either in Pocatello or another city. We have weighed our option endlessly and we feel the best thing to do is give up Tan-Tan. It's honestly the best situation for everyone, including him.

So, here is where you come in. Will you please help me find a home that will love him as much as we do. I refuse to put an ad in the paper. I don't want to just give him to anyone. I want to take the time to make sure Tanner is loved and goes to a good family.

Tanner is the sweetest little dog. He is extremely loyal to his owners and with a little time and patience will be to new family. Although he is used to Tayden, he would probably do best in a home without small children. He is the fastest little dog and loves to play ball both inside and out. This sweet lap dog is the best cuddler. He is content to sit on your lap or at your side for hours. He is pretty well trained and knows all the basic commands plus a few tricks. He tends to bark, but with a little time and effort could easily be trained not to. I just can't say enough good things about him. I love him with all my heart. He has been my loyal little buddy for 4 years now and I want nothing but the best for him.

If you know of anyone that is interested, please let me know. We will provide everything he needs to make the transition easier. His kennel, bed, toys, food, leash, collar, etc. I am also willing to travel (within reason) to give him to a good home. Thanks for your help. It's tearing me apart, but it is a little easier knowing I have good people helping find him a good home.

Tayden and Tanner

Tayden and Tanner are best friends. Tayden adores his doggy. I thought it would be fun to document a day with these two crazies, but that is alot easier said than done. They are both too fast and busy to capture the true love of these two. With that said, here are a few pictures from the day.

Every morning Tayden feeds Tanner breakfast. (Notice all the dog food on the floor...at least he tries!)

Then, Tayden feeds Tanner his breakfast. We are working on breaking this habit!

The boys spying on the neighbors!

Yeah, another habit we are trying to break!

They have the occasional staring contest.

Tayden and Tanner playing outside. Tayden followed the pup everywhere.

I had to add this picture! Scotts parents got this little fleece jumper for Tayden on his birthday. It is a little big, but kept him so warm! He loved getting out of the house and breathing some fresh air!

So there you have it. Dogs really are mans, and toddlers, best friend!

Tanner, Sit!

Our dog likes to sit in the banana chair. He thinks he is human. Weird? A little!

*Just a side note. Taydens second molar came through! That is 2 in 2 days, guess that explains all the finger chewing!

Hair Cut Day

Today was a great day for hair cuts. All the boys in my family got a one.

First, Tanner got a hair cut.

Then, Scott decided he was looking a little shaggy, so we headed to Inkom so his Dad could trim him up.

Finally, the real reason I am posting, Tayden got his first hair cut. We have been meaning to cut it for a few months now, and finally got the courage to do it.

I'm not sure he really knew what was going on. He was so serious.

Tayden was such a good boy during the buzz. He didn't even flinch.

After letting Scott do most of the cutting, I decided I wanted in on the fun.

Here is the final product. He looks super cute and so grown up. Its a bittersweet day for me...no more mohawks. For anyone that knows Tayden-he always has a mohawk. But, luckily its hair, and it will grow and mohawks will come again.

All my handsome boys looking good with new hair cutes. I am one lucky girl.

Tanners New Do

As everyone pretty much knows, I have this little dog that I absolutely love. I know sometime I act like I don't, but I seriously do. He is my shadow and I adore him. He was quite scraggly and in total need of a hair cut. So that is what we did. They went pretty short this time, but its still cute. Here is a before picture. (Which I love! Tayden loves watching TV with Daddy. Isn't the cutest thing? All my boys.)
And here is after. He is affectionally and not so affectionally by some, called the 'rat dog' or 'mexican chiuaua'. He loves to burrow under our covers on the bed, and I caught him in the act. Dang dog!

* Just another quick update while I am blogging. Tayden was so sick this weekend. This morning he was coughing so hard he was throwing up all over the place. And not like a little spit up, like piles of bile and mucas. It was awful. I knew it wasn't just a cold and something wasn't right. I took him to the doctor and it turns out he has a double ear infection. Poor little guy! He is know on antibiotics and should be better in the next few days. Its amazing how my heart hurts for my baby. I understand now that unconditional love you feel for your kids. Its amazing.

The Two Amigos

Okay, I know...I am posting again. I just did a post yesterday and here I sit, updating again. I guess some would classify me as obsessed, and lets be perfectly honest, I kind of am. (we have Lindsey to thank for that :) But in all seriousness, my little boy is so cute and I love to share it with everyone. I have to be that bragging mom that drives people crazy. Luckily, I know the people that are reading this love me and understand my craziness. So here is the scoop on the story I just had to post. For any of you that don't know, we have this crazy little dog that is basically our firstborn. He was our 'only child' for almost two years and is extremely spoiled. Well, since we brought Tayden home, Tanner has been a little depressed. You see, he just found out he is a dog not a human. So sad. He pretty much ignored Tayden for the first few weeks we had him home. Well, the past two weeks or so he has really started to take interest in the little guy. Just last week Tayden was laying on the flooring kicking and stretching when Tanner brought over 'Polly' (his favorite toy) and laid it next to Tayden. He started barking as though to say "Hey kid, play with me". It was pretty funny. Yesterday, I laid Tayden on the couch for just a minute. The next thing I know, Tanner is curled up next to him. Before I knew it they were taking a nap together. I have to say it was pretty sweet. I couldn't miss the kodak moment. Tanner is quite the 'big brother'!
