Scott turned 40 on November 22nd. I had grand plans for this 40th. I was going to take him to BSU football game, I was going to decorate the yard as a graveyard, I was going to have the family dress in black, and plan a surprise party....but I failed at every single one of those things. I did nothing. School has been especially demanding, taking up all my free time. I have a new calling in church that has been on my mind and taking up time. And the kids and their various activities have been as busy as ever. And my poor husband didn't get one special celebration for his big birthday.
However, we did spend the day celebrating him. We started the day with gifts and then hung out for the day, not letting him do any chores. Then, we all went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I don't even remember when the last time we all went out to dinner was. It was so much fun. Ane surely more of a gift for me than for Scott. We ended the day with pumpkin pie, or in his case, whip cream with a little pumpkin pie.
I am so grateful for my husband. My mom texted me the other day and simply said, "You picked a good one." I could not agree more. Scott would do anything for his family and works so hard to provide for us. Being patient is not in his nature, but I watch him put forth the effort daily and I am so impressed and grateful that he tries. He teaches our kids about what it means to be a man, how to work hard, and how to serve others. Scott is kind to me. All the time. He looks out for me and makes sure my temporal needs are met. He takes us to church, testifies of the Savior, and lives his life so we can live together as a family. There is no greater gift than a kind, good man.
Tayden had a successful elk hunt this year. He loves spending time with his Dad and Grandpa in the mountains, it always feels like a success, elk or not. I'm grateful they get to do this together. Also, the dogs are grateful. They were in heaven with the bones.
