Little Suit

Kyle got a new suit.

And he loves it! He wears it as often as possible.

It sure makes homework time fun. And a lot more cute!

Not so Wild Tanner

Last weekend we were planning a day trip to the property. We don’t usually take Tanner due to his old age and lack of hearing. Not to mention his horrible sense of direction and the fear of him getting lost. However, as we were loading everyone up to go, he started yapping and turning circles. I just couldn’t say no. I figured since we’d only be up there for a couple of hours, it was the perfect time to take him. I promised Scott I’d keep an eye on him and put him in the car with us.

He didn’t love it. He explored a little, but seemed a bit confused. In a change of dominance, Tanner actually followed Luna around. She was ultra confused as to why he was there with us and actually seemed annoyed with him.

The day wore him out! In fact, the next day when we got in the car to see our dads for Fathers Day, he refused to come. We had to physically pick him up and put him in the car.

Tanner is pushing 14 years old. I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be around, so I’m glad I had the chance to show him this part of our lives.

Packards at Snackards

We had the wonderful opportunity of spending the weekend with the Packard family at our property in Ashton. We had the whole family there short of Matt and Jen. It was awesome spending three quality days together. We played games, roasted smores, kayaked, road dirt bikes and regular bikes, took rides in the UTV, shot BB guns, took walks and even had a turtle race. This was the hope of the property and it hasn't fallen short yet.

Perhaps my favorite part of the trip was riding with my boys while they drove the UTV. This stage of life is awesome and I am soaking up every minute of it. While they didn't drive much and certainly not fast, it was fun to watch them experience a new chapter in life. I count my blessings we find in the mountains.

It was a great weekend. This was the first time in almost 14 years of marriage that we have had any sort of vacation with the Packards. I loved sitting back and watching and being reminded of what a great family I married into. Life's good.

Home Sweet Home, Away From Home

We love our set up at Snackars in Ashton. We set the sign this week and it’s icing in the cake.

Lonely Monkey

For the past 8 years, Monkey has been Beckett’s side kick. He’s number one comfort. Though he can go places without him and handle stresses on his own, he still sleeps with him 6/7 nights and totes him around the house went he’s upset.

Beckett was having a bit of a meltdown the other day over something and headed downstairs. Not five minutes later there was a knock at the door and Beckett started coming up to see who it was. When he heard it was his buddy, he put Monkey down on the steps before greeting his friend. He didn’t want his friend to see him with his stuffy.

It broke my heart a little. He is growing up and becoming more aware of what other people think. That leads to more complicated feelings and harder problems to solve. I’m going to miss the days when all he needed was Monkey and a snuggle from Mom to make everything okay. No wonder they’re called growing pains. It hurts to watch them grow.

One on one

I hope he’s never too cool to play one on one with his mom!
